Armchair BEA: Beyond My Blog

The main thing that blogging had brought to me is review copies of books, and the author relationships that come with them. I wrote a while ago about finding out about Heidi Ruby Miller through reviewing her book Ambasadora. This really demonstrates the sort of author relationship that I'd like to have, and which I feel I'm starting to have thanks to book blogging.

Of course, actually getting review copies of books is great as well. I really enjoy reading books that others might not have heard about yet, and the excitement of knowing that I might just discover a new up-and-coming author. One of my recent finds was Ray's Ellis' N.H.I., which  really enjoyed- and I'm so looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

My blogging hasn't really sent storms out into the 'real world' (yet), but I'm quite happy sitting at home and blogging away. And its great to know that others out there are reading what I write, alongside writing their own blogs/books.

As long as you are enjoying it, having fun, and finding new books that you love it's all worth it.

Definatly! The day I stop enjoying it will be the day that I stop blogging.

I love getting review copies of books, too. Except for now when they're piled ten high on my sheles and I don't know how I'm ever going to get to them and what I really, really want to read. Sometimes, there can be too much of a good thing!

I haven't yet got to the stage where I have that problem luckily (or unluckily depending how you look at it)

You're doing what you want an love. That's priceless. You may or may not expand your wings beyond the blogging you do now but that's just fine. Great insight.

You've summed up my feelings really well there.

Getting review copies and relationships with authors is one of the nice perks or having a book blog. That being said, it's not my main reason for opening a blog - but it sure is nice.

I always feel its a pity when getting review copies is someone's main reason for starting a blog. I love getting books and communicating with authors, but I started this blog to share my reading with others- pure and simple. The other things are an added benefit.

I'm always torn when I get signed review copies. Part of me wants to share the books I've enjoyed with others, but another part of me wants to hang on to signed copies (they're a bit special)
