10 reasons why I Don't Read E-Books

  1. I do not have an e-book reader
  2. Reading on a screen too much makes my eyes tired
  3. I like being able to read safely in the bath
  4. I hate having electronic devices in my bedroom (one of my favourite places to read).
  5. I like the feel of 'real' books
  6. Its too easy to get self-published electronically
  7. I want to spread the love of physical books
  8. I like to pass books onto other people (something that's harder to do with e-books)
  9. I just don't get the same pleasure reading books on my computer
  10. I've said I don't read e-books in my review policy
So why am I still getting review requests for e-books?

Great reasons to keep to real books! I too don't have an e-reader for my own reasons; but really, who wants to keep on recharging those puppies??? Not me that's for sure! I'd rather be able to read at my pace; and if the lights go out? Well, I have a headlamp for that particular purpose! :D

I have published through e-publishing, however that was to get publicity... nothing else and I'm not getting paid for it. So, I'm not worried. My main aim still is to get published for real, in print... on a bookshelf of a book store. Isn't that what it's all about to be a writer?

That's another good reason not to get an e-reader- I have enough problems remember to charge my mobile phone!

I totally agree that being published in print and into a book store is a much bigger thing than getting e-published. But there's certainly no harm in using e-books to get your name out there, and don't forget some people prefer e-books (its good to have variety).

#1 is a very good reason :P

I have a kindle that I've had for just over six months. It was a gift from my dad and I never thought I'd use it but it's come in handy... I'm trying to budget my cash better and I've got a running total of how much I'd spend for a real book vs e-book. I am coming up in front so far. The main problem is how easy it is to blow thought books on amazon. One click and it's sent instantaneously.

But I know what you mean about how books feel. Ebooks are just so... soulless? in a way. I buy them but I don't really feel like I have them. There's no way to display them on my bookshelves or give them to a friend easily. And I am a huge bookpusher - I love getting people to read the books I love.

Anyway... I've sort of began ranting here on your post Sorry!

You don't need to apologise for ranting (anyway, you didn't!), its great to be able to discuss interesting topics like this.

I think I'd find it all too easy to buy e-books as well.
