3 books received through the post this morning

Arrived at home to find a large(ish) parcel of books waiting for me. I saw the French on the post label and was puzzled at first since its so long since they were posted in Canada (2 months since the official release date) and I'd forgotten all about them.

Anyway, they arrived with perfect timing, since I'm just about to start a release challenge which they would be perfect for. Let's just hope I can get them read in time.

Well, here they are:

Alone in Berlin ( a review)

It was very easy to engage with the characters in the book because they were all so differently and cleverly portrayed. The author presented a very thought provoking account of life in Nazi Germany and raised many issues in the process. The copies of historical evidence, in the back, on which the book was based were also very interesting.

Surprise RABCK

Received 'Life of Pi' all the way from the USA this morning. Very exciting, as I wasn't expecting this parcel at all. Shows that there's good reason to have a BookCrossing wishlist!

The City of Dreaming Books ring

Just received this book through the BookCrossing ring. Looking forward to reading it, as I hear that it really speaks to booklovers.

Oxford Knot (a review)

Well-written, this book was very enjoyable to read. Its portrayal of a novelists life was very convincing and the mystery was enough to keep you reading. I would certainly recommend this book.

Wild Release #32: The Eyre Affair (+ review)

This afternoon in Abingdon- http://bookcrossing.com/journal/664932/J_13803770

A very interesting premise of an alternate England where time travel is common place is central to this book-based investigative story. The story failed to grip me, despite a few moments of pure comic genius, until Chapter 27; however after this it quickly gained pace until the end. Having read Jane Eyre would be useful before embarking of this book, however I do not believe that this is totally necessary.

Katherine (A Review)

A very interesting read. Not the sort of thing I would have picked up in a bookshop, but I enjoyed the different writing style immensely. It was a real insight into medieval life and their ideals of love, dukedom, the church and serfhood, as well as informing about history at the time.

Just received the book Falling Leaves for being randomly chosen as the winner of BookCrossing's February Readathon. Very much looking forward to reading it when I've caught up with my reading for release challenges

Gorillas in the Mist (A Review)

You can really sense Dian Fossey's love of Gorillas throughout this book! Sadness and joy, tragedy and laughter all intermingle as we're told the story of several gorrilla groups and their interactions. I learnt a lot as a read this book, although I was a little confused as regards the chronology of events.

Reserved for wild release as part of the Wild Release 4 Elements Challenge

HeartBurn (a review)

An easy-to-read book. It felt rather like reading someone's diary because of the way it frankly addressed the reader. I was looking forward to seeing how the recipes were integrated into the story, but unfortunatly the answer was not very well in my opinion. Not the sort of book I would normaly read, but it made an interesting change.

The Shadow of the Wind (A Review)

A mystery, romance, adventure and detective story all rolled into one. This gripping, and often intense, book tells the story of a young man investigating an author's life. He finds himself caught up in the intrigue as the pages slowly reveal themselves to both him and the reader.

Received some BC stickers

I was extremly surprised when, in yesterday's mail, there was an envelope from a bookcrosser in America. It wasn't big enough to be a book, so I was unsure what it would be until I opened it. It turned out to be some lovely personalised address, release and spine labels. Look out for some of my books bearing them, and thankyou very much to MyssCyn for the kind thought :)

My Bibliology books- (Wild Releases #27, #28, #29, Catch #7 & Found #9)

If, like me, you're an Ursula Le Guin fan....

I've bought some more books!

I know what you're thinking, what a surprise!

Popped into the library to borrow a few books and couldn't resist buying some at the same time (it's that amazing 5 for £1 offer they have!) Incidentally, I bumped into fellow BookCrossed Molyneux whilst I was there. She said that they may put up some sort of BookCrossing display, will let you all know when (and if) I spot it up and running.

Anyway, here's what I got.

To read and then (probably) bookcross:
The True History of Paradise
Girl Meet Ape
Oxford Knot

To release:
The Truth (maybe as part of Terry Pratchett ring)
Stone Cold (4 elements wild release)

Rented library books

Felt a bit guilty not utilising my local library as much as I used to, so while I was in town today I took the opportunity to borrow a few books:
Star Warped
Second Sight
A Theory of Relativity

I would also like to mention the brand new option they had of borrowing a mystery book. These were wrapped up so that you couldn't see what they were. I may try out the system at some point (when I've not got so many BookCrossing books on the go)

Another postal arrival

Having mentioned that I'd like the book only a few days ago, I was amazed to get 'Gorillas in the Mist' through the post today. Really looking forward to reading this book, as the film was great!

Me Cheeta (A Review)

"Now, in his own words, Cheeta finally tells his extraordinary story"

An imaginative and engaging book, supposedly written by the chimp who co-starred in the Tarzan movies. Hilarious, interesting and sometimes disturbing, this is certainly the best book written by a chimpanzee that I've ever read.
