"I won't be able to make it tonight. I got tied up at work, so I won't be home until late."
Clark slumped in his chair. "Really? No again."
"I know, but what can I do? It is a really good opportunity."
"I know, I know. It's frustrating, that's all. It's Christmas Eve. I was hoping we'd get to spend it together."
"We have all day tomorrow." Other voices started to come over the phone, and Clark knew what would happen next. "Look, I've got to go. I'm really sorry. I will talk to you later. Bye-"
